The South African Sugar Technologists’ Association (SASTA) promotes the exchange of scientific knowledge related to sugarcane agriculture and sugar milling practice.
The Association’s Annual Congress is a premier event which receives significant recognition from both within South Africa and internationally. During the congress, high quality scientific papers and presentations showcase significant scientific and technological advancements in the industry. The Trade Exhibition associated with the congress serves as a platform for meaningful engagement with various service providers in the sugar industry.
Exchange of scientific knowledge also takes place during SASTA roadshows, working groups, field events, workshops and visits to farms and factories.
Established in 1926, SASTA operates under the aegis of the South African Sugar Association, but is governed under its own constitution by a council elected by its members. SASTA’s offices are situated on premises of the South African Sugarcane Research Institute (SASRI) at Mount Edgecombe, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
