Call for Abstracts
The 96th SASTA Congress will be held at the ICC, Durban from 13 – 15 August 2024.
Abstract Submission
Abstract submissions are due by 25 February 2024 and if accepted, authors will be informed by 11 March 2024.
Papers will be due for submission to SASTA by 21 April 2024. Abstracts may be submitted online.

Paper categories
Papers can be submitted in the following categories: Full-length papers, Review papers, Short Communications, Factory Operational papers, Posters, Commercial papers, Practical Success Stories (Agriculture). Please refer to the Instructions to Authors 2024 for full guidelines.
Full Papers, Review Papers (Agriculture and Factory) and Operational Papers (Factory Only) – View Template
These papers will be subject to a peer evaluation process. Editing and formatting for stylistic purposes will also be conducted. Two referees will assess each paper.
Review papers should be critical up-to-date surveys of important developments in a subject of active current interest.
Operational papers are intended for non-scientific factory work or experiences only, while these papers do not require a detailed literature study, consultation of the known literature is strongly encouraged.
Short Communications (Agriculture and Factory) – View Template
Short Communications are non-refereed papers that provide a concise description of an independent line of research. They are intended to encourage the publication of exciting new findings that may be suitable to submit to a refereed Journal on completion of further research.
Poster Presentations (Agriculture and Factory)
Poster presentations are an effective means of presenting information. Poster summaries will be published in the proceedings and an electronic version on the SASTA website. Posters are on display for the full duration of the congress and presenters may be required to make a short oral presentation.
Practical Success Stories (Agriculture Only)
Practical success stories are intended for non-scientific work or experiences. Authors are encouraged to share examples of ideas/innovations that have resulted in positive, practical outcomes in the workplace.
Commercial Papers (Factory Only)
Commercial papers are intended for non-scientific work or experiences and may include product or company information.
